Happy Holly Days: DIY Snowglobe

It's a DIY day! YAY! I love crafts and DIYs. I've done a few in my time and like to think of myself as an amateur crafter. Lol. I was looking on Pinterest like I do, searching for some easy Christmas decor ideas for a blog post. I found this one: (you can read the whole post here)

It looked easy enough and I had all the supplies needed to whip this up! So I gathered my materials and sat down on my floor and started assembling my DIY snowglobe! 

It took less than 15 minutes to make and adds that something special to a bookshelf, desk, coffee table, nightstand, etc. It fits with any decor style and you'll be sure to get lots of compliments on it! So what do you need and how do you make it? Let's jump in! 

Things You'll Need:A mason jar (I used the pint size)Fake snow from a craft storeGlitter (I used white and silver)Super glue or waterproof Gorilla Glue (I used superglue)Styrofoam Fake trees of varying sizesFigurines (I didn't have any but feel free to use them)Water
Instructions:
Step 1: Once you've gathered all your materials unscrew the jar lid. We're going to be using the flat lid part as the 'base' for our trees. Arrange the trees how you like them on the lid.

Step 2: (My big tree didn't have a base on it so I cut a piece of styrofoam to fit the bottom of the tree. I super glued the styrofoam and tree together.) Super glue your trees to the lid. Clamp them down with your fingers for a minute or so or until the glue has dried. 

Step 3: Add water to the jar. Don't fill it up all the way because when you place in your trees it will displace some of it. 

Step 4: Add your fake snow and glitter to the water and mix it up. 

Step 5: Carefully add your trees into the water, screw on your lid (tight!!) and you're done! You've made your DIY snowglobe!

*Note: I noticed that after a while the water turned green from the dye on the trees. After a little research I found a few solutions. A) soak the trees in water for at least 24 hours to remove some of the dye. B) Use plastic trees. C) Make the snowglobe without water and make it more of a terrarium.

 This makes for the perfect gift to give! Whether to family, friends, co-workers, teachers, bosses, anyone at all it makes for a thoughtful present. You can add whatever you want into your snowglobe. I've seen ones with figurines like animals and people or just trees! Check Pinerest for inspiration on what to put inside! 

I hope you enjoyed this super simple and chic DIY! I love the snowglobe and will definitely make more to give and place around my room and house. I think it just adds that special touch to the decor!
